What Are Canford Audio Acoustic Racks?
These have been designed by UK based Canford Audio for applications where noise levels and visual appearance are important. For example when you need a quiet space but you have to have the computer and other peripherals like interfaces and hard drives in the same space.
The ES420 Series acoustic cabinets are lined with melamine sound absorbing foam designed to reduce noise, with the bolted steel construction giving strength and rigidity and the maple-veneered front-door and top vanity-panel intended to suit the decor of studio, educational, corporate and commercial environments.
The cabinets are available in three heights, 17U, 32U and 42U. A fan module, levelling feet, castors and vertical cable-management are included and the cabinets are supplied assembled.
The cabinets have a double-skin side structure, with split, lockable access-panels, offering space for cable routing. To the front of the side-structure are aluminium rings and large brushed-apertures, alternately-spaced through the full height of the cabinet, to aid in cable management.
All doors fit flush within the cabinet; the front door consists of two 'wardrobe style' maple-veneered doors with a single-point cylinder lock. To the rear of the rack, there is a full height, double-skin steel door, with hot-air exhaust apertures. On the inner-face of the rear door is a three, six or nine-fan module, depending on the model, complete with a thermostat, which can be set between 0-60 degrees C.
Although Canford Audio is UK based non-UK delivery is possible but is likely to incur an additional cost and you would need to contact their sales team to confirm the cost.
What We Think About The Canford Audio Acoustic Racks
Years ago, long before this kind of product was available, I used conventional rack cabinets from Canford Audio and lined them with acoustic foam and arranged for ventilation at the back for Pro Tools Computers to house the computer and peripherals to bring the noise level down in the room. It is good to see that they have developed a purpose-built product, but be warned they are not cheap.
