Chuck Russom is releasing a new sound effects collection of guns recorded out to the Arizona Desert. Multiple microphones were placed at close, medium, and distant perspectives. He has posted a very interesting video where you can hear the differences between different mics and positions from the sound source - an HK53 Assault Rifle. have a listen, are you surprised at the differences?
Every gun in this new library features sounds from 12-16 microphone locations, covering close, medium, and distant perspectives.
Their goal with these sounds is not to produce yet another library of stereo mixdowns or over-designed guns. This is a collection of multichannel recordings giving many different microphone perspectives to allow maximum flexibility when designing your own sounds. The recordings have been kept as raw and unprocessed as possible.
