Ahead of NAMM 2014, Slate Digital in their own inimitable style have announce the Slate Virtual Microphone System.
Part hardware, part software, the new Slate Virtual Microphone System features what they describe as ‘the future’ a virtual microphone and pre-amp cabinet of your dreams.
They are clear in to point out in the video that this is not convolution but a new proprietary system that relies on microphones with ultra-flat response properties as well as a virtual hardware convertor with the same fundamental starting point. The rest they say is down to modelling.
Using the ‘super clean and transparent microphone and pre-amplification chain’ in conjunction with The VMS software, Slate recreates the color and character of some of the most beloved classic mic’s and pre-amps used in the recording industry.
Switch between a virtual 47 and a ribbon 121 and try them through different pre-amps. Or put a virtual 57 on a snare drum or guitar amp. Zero latency means you can record directly into your DAW using these virtual mics and pre-amps. And do it all at a fraction of the price!
