Gobbler asked me to update itself to v0.9.8 last night which I did, but it was too late to check how it performed. Checked this morning and found that it hadn’t found the new Pro Tools 10 sessions I had created, so posted a comment on the Gobbler Community site. I tried removing the .db files in the Gobbler folder in the Application Support folder in the User’s Library folder and then getting Gobbler to ignore the drive they were on and then rescan it as suggested on the their thread. I also noticed that there was a Pro Tools 9 session missing from the Gobbler app. Then I realised that the thing all these sessions had in common was they didn’t have an Audio Files folder. which is currently one of the key ways Gobblers determines whether a folder it should be interested in. The two PT 10 sessions were using referenced audio so had no audio files and the PT9 session was a MIDI only session and so too had no Audio Files folder. However once I had put empty Audio Files folders in these session folders and re-scanned all was well. Chris from Gobbler responded 3 minutes after I posted my comments….
On your note about better ways of identifying the session folders… We are working on that now…we have something really exciting coming down the pipe.. I think you are really going to like it… a MUCH smarter scanner.
It is interesting that Gobbler is also extending the range of stuff it will recognise and backup. All I want now is for it to backup all my admin files I am a happy man. That way I can buy all my ‘cloud’ storage needs from one place.
