In this video for Pro Tools Expert, Technical Editor James Ivey takes a look at the new Virtual Tube Collection (VTC) by Slate Digital. Steven at the team at Slate have collected together some of the finest valve (Tube) gear and worked there magic to create 3 very subtle but very useful additions to the Slate Virtual Mix Rack (VMR) family.
James tries the VTC trio on a rhythm section track employing the different modules on both the individual tracks and on the stereo mix bus.
The Three VTC Modules
- The London VTC module is a recreation of that classic British "valve" tone that that we all strive for.
- Hollywood gives us a lovely tube warmth and depth but with some added shine on top. The bass is full with a nice punch. This module is pure high-end class.
- The New York module is aggressive and up front and I think sounds great of already saturated tones.
Take a look and listen to how I have used the Virtual Tube Collection on this track. This could just be the tone you have been looking for.
