Toontrack has released Soul Roads EKX, the first new expansion for its recently released EZkeys 2 virtual instrument. You can review our Experts review of EZkeys 2 release here.
When Toontrack released EZkeys 2 last month, all available sound libraries were converted to EKXs. While all previously released titles work in both the legacy version as well as the current iteration of the program, the Soul Roads EKX is the first EKX developed uniquely for the new format.
Handpicked from a meticulously restored and curated collection, the Swedish developers have captured the timeless and iconic Rhodes Stage 73 MK I and the Rhodes Stage 73 Mk II for this new EKX. From two distinct eras, these fundamentally different instruments cover an expanse of tones – from the nostalgic old-world charm and the funk-infused ’70s through to the lush neo-soul and beat-driven eras of the modern day.
In addition to the sounds, a broad palette of mix-ready presets as well as a collection of MIDI covering song foundations inspired by soul from the ’60s through to today are included.
Of the release, Toontrack Sound Designer Ulf Edlund says, “Our goal with this project was to capture the bare essence of these classic electric pianos in the most transparent way possible – ensuring that, for the end-user, they would record, behave, feel and – not least – sound exactly like the real thing.”
Pricing & Availability
The Soul Roads EKX is available now priced 89 Euros and requires the EZkeys 2 software.
