Drawmer, the manufacturers of classic gear such as the the DS201 gates which were almost compulsory in racks for many years have introduced two new pieces of outboard which claim to offer some 1970s character without the prices associated with vintage equipment. The 1974 is a stereo EQ and the 1976 is a multiband saturation/stereo width processor.
1974 - Stereo Parametric Equaliser
The vintage-style fully stereo 1974 four band Parametric Equaliser is useful for subtle shaping for mastering purposes that require a delicate touch and easy recall, but is just as capable of tonal sculpting, adding the analogue warmth and character. With one set of controls for both channels the design features dual channel stepped potentiometers for fast and simple recall. Parametric mid bands and low and high pass filters are also included. It also features a switchable slope allowing you to alter the focus at the high and low bands plus a low peak setting which magnifies the bottom end.

The 1976 3 band stereo saturation and width processor has been designed to inject character, colour and width. Inspired by the saturation and width features of the Drawmer DC2476 Digital Mastering Processor the 3 bands of independent saturation are perfect for adding fur to the bass while leaving the mids clean, or adding sizzle to the hi hats while leaving the vocals alone.
