For owners of UAD Apollo and Arrow interfaces, UAD has bundled a free version of the Brainworx Ampeg SVT-VR bass amp plug-in, the SVT-VR Classic, with the latest version of the UAD software - v9.5.2. Simply download the update to receive your free plug-in.
What Is The Difference Between the SVT-VR And The SVT-VR Classic?
Only Channel 2 - The biggest visual difference is that the new Classic plug-in is missing channel one of the SVT-VR. As a result, there is no midrange control or bass cut switch.
Fewer Cabinet/Mic Choices - The Classic offers a single 8x10 and 4x10 setting and the No Cabinet option designed for using the plug-in with a real cabinet. The SVT-VR features 24 different recording setups with multiple mic and EQ choices on an 8x10, 4x10, 1x15 and No Cabinet options with a choice of microphones.
No Gate Or Filters - The SVT-VR Classic omits the high and low pass filters and noise gate found in the FX Rack section of the SVT-VR.
Different Brainworx Branding - Both of these plugins were developed by Brainworx and the easily-missed blue on silver branding on the SVT-VR has been added to with a more prominent logo on the front panel.
Does The SVT-VR Classic Use The Same Amount Of DSP As The SVT-VR?
Yes, it does. On my Apollo Twin Duo, both plug-ins used 13%.
