Yousician is an interactive tutorial application that teaches people how to play the guitar. It does look like a very cool learning aid though none of us on the team have tried it yet. Currently, Yousician are running an interesting promotion for new Yousician members. Receive a free acoustic guitar by simply signing up for a free 30 day trial of Yousician's annual premium subscription plan.
There are five styles of acoustic guitar to choose from. The information on their website does not tell us what brand acoustic guitar is on offer and Yousician state that they have limited stock meaning some new members may receive a substitute model of guitar in the post.
Yousician are only offering this promotion to UK residents, it is unclear if they will extend this to other territories in the future. Yousician say that new users who sign up for this offer will receive their free acoustic guitar within two working days. Users can cancel their account and return the free guitar to Yousician if users decide to not enter into the $99.99 annual subscription within the free 30 day trial period. If new users decide they want both the guitar and the annual subscription then their accounts will be automatically charged the annual fee of $99.99.
Personally, I think this is a cool idea. As well as being a vocal coach, my wife is also a guitar tutor. She often finds when new students come through her door wanting to learn the guitar these new students don't always have access to a guitar at home, mainly because they don't want to commit to buying a guitar before they've learnt anything. This promo by Yousician seems to get around this issue by putting instrument in peoples hands along with an app that can get people learning some basic playing styles and guitar techniques.
Visit the Yousician website for more information about this promotion.
