If you want to have a laugh then go and find some of the first videos I made for the former AIR Users Blog back in 2008 - when I look at them now I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. I think I got better over the years - I do hope so as I think I've passed making over 1000 videos in various form for Pro Tools users.
In those days it was just me; thinking up ideas, making videos, writing posts, arguing with people in the comments - and when I started I expected a couple of dozen people to visit the blog... in it's lifetime. Miraculously it turned out to be a few more and 8 years later it goes from strength to strength.
Yesterday I watched James' Antelope Orion Studio review and I was simply blown away by it. It was filled with passion, information and a lot talent. I was filled with a mixture of joy and pride, but that's not rare these days, I get the same feeling watching and reading content by Mike, Dan, Julian, Alan and the growing team of contributors to the blog.
They work incredibly hard to get things right, of course they don't always do, but on the whole they simply nail it. I'm not only appreciative of their talent but also their honesty and integrity and I know from the messages we get from many people that you are too.
It's been nearly 8 years since I started this blog, I had no idea where it would end up and the impact it would have. BUT it's not got here because of me, it's taken letting go and giving people who are smarter and more talented than me the freedom to make the blog better than it could ever be.
We talk a lot about gear on this blog, but the truth is that it is the people who really make the difference. The same applies to our creative pursuits - you can have the best gear in the world but without the talent we achieve far less.
