In this tip Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers shares a simple but indispensable tip in what is probably his shortest video to date.
If you have moved a clip from its original position and you have done over 64 things between you moving it and you noticing you have moved it then the undo command won’t be of any help. Rather than reverting to a previously saved version and risking losing some work you can simply use Spot mode to put it back.
Spot Mode
Spot Mode isn’t somewhere people using Pro Tools for music spend much time, unlike people doing post for whom it is their bread and butter, but this one use is to useful not to be aware of.
How To Restore A Clip To Its Original Location
In Spot mode click on the clip you wish to return to its original position with the Grab tool.
Click on the up arrow next to the original time stamp field and click OK.
That’s it!
