Using the numeric keypad’s plus and minus keys, nudging offers a way to move clips, clip boundaries and many other things up and down the timeline by specified amounts.
There are lots of variations on the nudge shortcuts, just try every combination of modifier you can think of with plus and minus and you’ll probably find at least one you didn’t know. One of the simplest and most useful is adding Shift. To see what it achieves see the slideshow below.
Nudge Setting
In this example Nudge is set to a 1/2 note
Edit selection includes two clips
The edit selection which is to be nudged covers two clips
Nudge right by 1/2 note
A nudge will move the edit selection and the clips 1/2 note to the right
Nudge with Shift
Adding Shift the same nudge will nudge the edit selection but not the clips which remain in their original position.
