In this free video tutorial, Pro Tools Expert team member Julian Rodgers troubleshoots potential conflicts with the three record keyboard shortcuts on a Mac and demonstrates how to abort a record pass and keep your clips list tidy.
Record Shortcuts
There are three record shortcuts in Pro Tools:
- Command+Spacebar (Control+Spacebar on a PC)
- Num 3
- F12
Each of these three shortcuts can sometimes not work because of Mac operating system conflicts or Pro Tools preference settings. Julian goes through these potential conflicts, showing how to remedy them.
Abort Recording
Although it is usually straightforward to clear out unwanted takes from your clips list at any point there is a lot to be said for not filling up your clips list with bad takes in the first place. using the shortcut CMD+. (Control+. on PC) it is possible to abort the recording and discard the recording on progress.
Warning - Abort Cannot Be Undone!
A word of warning, if you abort a recording its gone for good. Don't hit it on a keeper! (I know, I've done it...)
