In this free video tutorial, you will see the significance of the playlist and clip list options available in all AudioSuite plug-in windows in Pro Tools.
AudioSuite - Still Relevant
I've always seen AudioSuite as like a long-standing civil amenity like a library, something which we take for granted even though we don't use it as much as we used to but we'd be up in arms if it were to be taken away.
Most of the reasons why AudioSuite was invented no longer apply but there are still good reasons to use it. The perfect illustration of this is the humble Reverse plug-in. Show me a real-time reverse plug-in...
Use in Playlist
This button is often overlooked. when engaged the familiar result of the rendered file replacing the original file on the timeline occurs, when disengaged the rendered file still gets created but only exists in the clip list, the clip's name will be the same as the original clip with a suffix added which is an abbreviation of the plug-in's name.
Playlist Vs Clip List
AudioSuite processing can get surprisingly involved. Even if you don't go any further into it this is worth knowing about. If the clip only occurs once on the timeline it isn't relevant but for clips which occur multiple times on the timeline, whether on one or many tracks, this setting has an important effect:
Playlist: If clip occurs multiple times on the timeline, only the selected instance will be updated with the rendered version.
Clip List: If clip occurs multiple times on the timeline, every instance will be updated with the rendered version.
