In this free video tutorial, you will learn about how to use the Shift + Click to Invert the gain of a band of EQ in the stock Pro Tools EQ III plug-in tip from a previous tip to create a mono-compatible stereo widening effect.
Multi-Mono Plug-Ins
This tip relies on the use of multi-mono plug-ins. Multi-mono versions of plug-ins include the ability to have different settings applied to each channel. By setting up a subtle EQ curve, unlinking the channels in the multi-mono plug-in and using the shift+click trick in EQIII it is easy to set up the exact opposite settings on the other channel.
Because the two channels are now slightly different from each other a pseudo-stereo effect is introduced and because the two channels have exactly opposite boosts and cuts applied, they recombine back into mono perfectly!
