In this overview video, Russ Hughes shows how the PreSonus Digimax DP88 can be used to expand the audio inputs of popular audio interfaces such as the Universal Audio Apollo and Focusrite units.
How is it Possible to Expand the Inputs on an Interface?
A lot of people will own a small audio interface such as the Universal Apollo or Focusrite Clarett, both of which offer high-quality recording but with a limited set of inputs.
Thankfully, the designers of these interfaces anticipated that some users would want to be able to expand the amount of inputs for adding more microphones or other audio equipment and so included an ADAT Lightpipe or ADAT Optical Interface connection.
ADAT Lightpipe can carry up to eight channels of uncompressed digital audio at 24-bit 48kHz over an optical connection.
To expand the amount of inputs on an interface like an Apollo Twin you simply need to find a unit that has ADAT Lightpipe out and a cable to connect the two units together.
Using the PreSonus DP88 Preamp to Expand Your Audio Inputs
In this video example, we expand the analog I/O with 8 additional high quality remote preamps, using the DigiMax DP88, described by PreSonus an 'the ideal companion product for any audio interface with ADAT I/O. Check out the benefits provided by adding the DP88 to these popular interfaces.'
