Avosound Formerly Known As Soundeffects.ch
This week Soundeffects.ch announced they are now called Avosound. They are at pains to point out that everything else stays as is: they are still creating high quality sound effect libraries, represent sound effects labels and are experts on licensing, Soundminer and archive administration.
They also have a new feature on their site that displays audio clips with a spectrogram display. Try out the spectrogram display on the Avosound site.
Apart from that, they continue travel the world in order to record new sound material for you. Their latest trip took them all the way to Myanmar! You can check their new website, blog, or follow (and like :-) them on Facebook, etc.
Game Audio Professionals Needed For Industry Survey
GameSoundCon is calling on all professional video game composers and sound designers to participate in their annual industry survey. From May 1 through May 31, 2016, you can (anonymously) answer questions regarding job opportunities, compensation, and work environment as well as industry trends.
What Will The Survey Be Used For?.
The number of participants has grown from year to year, and in 2015 GameSoundCon Executive Director Brian Schmidt was able to collect responses from over 600 Game Audio professionals. Based on this increased participation, which represented an 18% response rate growth over the prior year, the 2015 survey was said to be the most accurate picture of this growing industry to date. Brian told us...
“Research and data, while incredible helpful, are often overlooked when it comes to creative fields. Participation in our annual Game Audio Industry Survey helps everyone from seasoned industry professionals negotiating their next contract to newcomers trying to get their first gig. Spotting trends, uncovering opportunities, and staying abreast of the latest technology are vital to success in game audio.”
Telling Sound Stories – How Jennifer Walden Covers The World Of Sound
Asbjoern from A Sound Effect is features audio journalist Jennifer Walden. She does some excellent interviews and features on sound, for both print magazines and online sites and Asbjoern was curious to hear her approach to writing about sound, what excites her in the world of sound and audio post – and how she views the rapidly-changing media landscape and started by asking her how she got started writing about sound.
I started writing product reviews for Post Magazine back when I was a sound designer/mixer at the now defunct Ultra-Sound, a boutique audio post house (formerly part of The Napoleon Group) in Manhattan. Ultra-Sound’s senior mixer Ron DiCesare, who was writing for the magazine at the time, offered me the opportunity to review Sound Ideas Ultimate SFX library. So I was introduced to Post Magazine’s editor-in-chief, who at that time was Randi Altman.
It was this perfect golden opportunity, a real stroke of luck. I did a few reviews for her before I eventually left the studio to raise my daughter. Ron asked if I’d like to take over for him in writing the monthly audio features for Post. I jumped at the chance. I love writing and I love post sound and Randi is just awesome to work with. It was this perfect golden opportunity, a real stroke of luck.
Jennifer has gone onto set up her own site postPerspective.com You can read the rest of Jennifier's story on the A Sound Effect blog.
