You would have thought that someone who had purchased plugins with a stolen credit card would be wise enough to keep quiet, but it seems not. After we ran our article on a developer losing money to a thief buying plugins with a stolen credit card he took exception and emailed the developer he stole from to tell him so, the developer duly responded, here is the full unedited exchange between them.

I didn't have to reply to you. One mistake that will never get done again.
all good here
Here is the developer's reply:
Dear (if that’s your actual name),
I’m glad you saw that. Your self-justifying email was simply too good not to share. It was a perfect example of the sense of entitlement that damages the industry I love.
I’ll tell you something. I was once a young musician trying to “make it”. Things I wanted were things I couldn’t afford. So I waited and saved money. I played in terrible nightclubs often seven nights a week—for years. When that work wasn’t available, I worked construction. I drove a forklift in a warehouse. I unloaded boxcars. I worked my tail off. When I got the chance to go back to school I did. You somehow assume that we “rich” corporations aren’t hurt by criminals like you. The person whose card you used was paid back, but that person has had to spend hours cleaning up after identity theft issues. I lost the fee that I pay to Paypal. I lost several hours of work working through your fraud with Paypal. Those are hours I”d rather have given to new product or to paying customers. Some of those customers had to stretch to purchase my software and I’ll always bend over backwards to help them. You’re just a freeloader.
It’s also clear that I’m not the only person you stole from. By the time I learned of the theft, your iLok account was already frozen for fraud. I guess your “artistic” needs were great and you didn’t mind causing all this work for lots of different people.
I do not want your business. I have done the best I can to block purchases by you and I’ve also informed other vendors to be on the lookout. As soon as I hit the send button, I will also block your email address. If you want to do the right thing, then plug your iLok in and launch License Manager. Let those licenses go back to whomever you stole from. Now.
Discuss.
