Since we featured the new Facebook page for sharing Studio Hacks the page has become very popular and in this article we highlight another selection of the hacks from Studio Hacks.

Monitor Shelf From Ikea Parts
This is a nice and easy hack from Aussie Producer Klaus Hill. Its an IKEA shelf and 4 of their metal legs and you have a monitor shelf for your desk. Others then jumped on with variations of this hack.
Billy Tanglewood built a couple of studio desk units using the Ikea Olov legs (adjustable 23.5" to 35.5") @ $15 ea. and the 90" x 26" SÄLJAN Countertops @ $69 ea. Good looking, adjustable and fairly inexpensive.
Thomas Leoni has done something similar using 1 x Lack Shelf (Black, 43 1/4 x 10 3/4") and 1 x 4 Pack Capita Legs (stainless steel)
Steven Carpenter used the same legs but purchased two TV unit stands as they come with a fatter shelf and its edged all over whereas the normal Ikea shelving isn't edged at the back.
Protecting Mics From Dust
If you are worried about dust getting into treasured mics but you use them so often you don't want to have to keep putting them back in their cases, then try a DSLR lens bag. The best thing about this type of cloth bag is the draw strings keep the bag on the mic even when it is inverted.
Fitting Acoustic Tiles Without Ruining The Wall
Do you want to add some acoustic tiles to your studio wall, but you don't want to ruin the wall, maybe because you are in a rented space then check this hack out. No need for replastering and repainting if you need to take them down.
Talkback Mic Warning Light
Georges Majerushas shared this great hack. Have you ever run into the situation where the producer said something really nasty and the talkback microphone was still on? Or he talks and the talkback mic isn't on yet? If you have, here is Georges' solution...
You have a talkback mic with two contacts on it so that the first will turn the mic on and off by shorting out pins 2 and 3 on the XLR, and the second set of contacts on the footswitch switches on a red light to show the mics status. There is a nice little video on the Studio Hacks page.
