What The iPad Pro Could Mean For Pro Tools Users
Well that depends on a couple of things:
The first is how app developers adapt their current software, it may be the case that apps currently designed to work on the regular iPad will zoom to resize, in other words everything will be bigger rather than seeing more faders or buttons on the same page.
The second thing it depends on is how you use an iPad with Pro Tools now. Some of our team are using the new Avid Pro Tools Control iPad app, we reviewed recently. Others are also using apps like Actions App for IPad.
We will be talking to all app developers to find out how they plan to respond to the iPad Pro such as Neyrinck and their hugely popular V-Control Pro, used by many Pro Tools users.
However you use the iPad with Pro Tools, the very idea of a Pro iPad should offer even greater possibilities to integrate touch into a Pro Tools workflow. The possibility of a stylus with force touch may open up greater editing of the audio waveform in Pro Tools sessions on the iPad Pro, that of course depends on how developers respond to a new bigger iPad.
