Pro Sound Effects Release NYC Ambisonics Library For Immersive Sound Projects
NYC Ambisonics is a 35GB sound effects library that comes with software from TSL Products that allows a sound editor to point "virtual microphones" in any direction and with a variety of polar patterns for greater control and creativity. Produced and recorded in 24-bit/96kHz, NYC Ambisonics was recorded throughout New York City, including Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. New Titles From Sonniss - Projector & Symbols
In the latest newsletter from Sonniss, two titles caught my attention, Projector and Symbols.
Projector is a collection containing sounds such as: power switches and breakers, buttons and catches, shunts and clunks from many sources including 35mm lens turrets, powering up and down processes, threading up 35mm and 16mm film projectors by experienced projectionists, extraction fans, intermittent sprocket clicks and errors, film handling and splicing, operational projection room ambiences and many more. It is a 1.92GB library made up of 92 96k/24bit files and costs $54.
Symbols is a play on words and is a collection of Cymbal related sounds that started out as an exercise in design, but what it evolved into is a library of organic, beautiful and haunting soundscapes, hits, and loops. Using only a 26 inch ride cymbal and a 32 inch gong as sound sources, the goal was to extract the more ethereal side of these percussion instruments. Ranging over 400 sounds, this library is described as atmospheric, emotional, edgy and other worldly. The performances were mostly friction based where sounds were created by dragging things across them or by bowing. There were some occasional and extremely light hits on both cymbal and gong but the main focus was to capture the natural harmonics and resonance of the instruments that occur when being played extremely soft. there are 465 44.1k/24 bit files and it costs $25.
SoundBits Release Just Chains
Saro emailed me this week to tell me that they have just released Just Chains. This is a collection of metal chain sound effects. Different kinds and sizes of chains were hit, pulled, dropped, shaken, rattled, whipped and hung up and jingled. Some examples for the usage of those sounds are: morning star swings / whips, horror ambiences, Treasure chest digging, money bags, gold coins, any kind of metal chain movements, metal chain hoists, footsteps/movement add-ons (e.g. chain mails), and many more… Just Chains has 973 96k/24 bit files and cost 36 Euros inc VAT.
