Here is another great tip from community member Marco Bernardo, who won the 2nd silver iLok for his amazing work on developing a way of opening a Pro Tools First session in Pro Tools. In this tip Marco has developed Applescripts so you can install all the Avid plug-ins in one go.
Marco made these scripts because he needed to update 10 rooms of a audio post production facility and open 25 dmg files, and install them is time consuming. As this is an Applescript - this script is only for Mac users.
There are two sets of instructions and Applescripts, one for Pro Tools HD Users with 25 plug-ins and the other for Pro Tools Vanilla users with 17 plug-ins. Make sure you use the correct instructions and Applescript.
Instructions For Pro Tools HD Users
- Download all installers to one Folder (for example: ~/Desktop/Plugins)
- Copy the script InstallAvidPlugins_PT12HD.sh to the Plugins folder that you created
- Open the Terminal app and type...
- cd Desktop/Plugins (case sensitive)
- sudo ./InstallAvidPlugins_PT12HD.sh
- it will ask for your Admin password - just type it and hit Enter
- Please note that ALL DMGs need to be in the same folder as this script
- At the end the script will unmount all plug-in installers.
Instructions For Pro Tools Vanillas Users
- Download all installers to one Folder (for example: ~/Desktop/Plugins)
- Copy the script InstallAvidPlugins_PT12Vanilla.sh to the Plugins folder that you created
- Open the Terminal app and type...
- cd Desktop/Plugins (case sensitive)
- sudo ./InstallAvidPlugins_PT12Vanilla.sh
- it will ask for your Admin password - just type it and hit Enter
- Please note that ALL DMGs need to be in the same folder as this script
- At the end the script will unmount all plug-in installers.
Bonus Tip From Marco For HD Users Using Advanced Automation
This is only for HD users that have the advanced automation features. It's about the Write to all or (selection) when using latch or preview mode.
You all know that you can access this from the Command+4 on the numeric pad, but you can reach out the Write to all (or selection), Write to start or Write to end from the Transport (from the window Transport cmd + 1 or the edit bar transport).
Just hold down Control+Shift+Click Return to Zero or the Go to End button. Note that when you have the Selection option, it will only Write To All to that selection.
