In early March I was approached by Avid to see if the community would help them with a survey, in return they would give 5 lucky respondents a copy of Pro Tools 10, chosen at random. We agreed and ran a link to the survey on our site on March 20th 2012.
The survey took place and over 1500 of you completed the survey with responses - thank you.
Then 5 names were chosen at random - we were given the list of those names and told Avid would send the prizes to them. To date some of you have not received those prizes.
Although we did not host the competition, our Community Development Manager, Eric, went the extra mile to try and help those struggling to get their prizes, to date this has not been successful for some, partly due to the fact that most of the people involved in that initiative are no longer being employed by Avid. I want to publicly thank Eric for working hard behind the scenes to try and fix this problem - he has gone the extra mile.
Avid have let some of you down, but I agreed to host this competition and in doing so put our name on the line for Avid. The buck stops with me and for that reason I want to say sorry for the disappointment and frustration for those who won, but to date have no prize - you deserve better from Avid. As a partner, Avid have let us down too, we will think twice about any future endorsement of their activities. Let me assure you all that we work with partners on a daily basis and we have never had an issue like this before - this is not normal behaviour, this is unacceptable for a brand of any size.
My suggestion to those who are still without their prizes is to write to their CEO, Gary Greenfield and ask him to explain the situation and to resolve it for you. On the Pro Tools Expert blog the buck stops with me, at Avid the buck stops with him.
Thank You for you continued support
Russ
