Today Lynx Studio Support and UpdatesPosted a rather interesting development on their Facebook page that hints to a promising future for 3rd party converters with Pro Tools HDX.
“Attn all Aurora/HD users! If you are using an Aurora with an Avid HD Native, or HDX card, we have beta LT-HD firmware available that can markedly improve the operation of the converters in your ProTools rig. With this firmware, the Aurora will appear as an HD I/O, rather than a 192 I/O, and issues users have reported with error messages generated when Sample Rate or Sync Source is changed should be resolved. We are interested in having this firmware tested by users before its final release. If you have an Aurora + HD Native, or HDX system, and would like to test this firmware, send an email to support@lynxstudio.com, requesting the beta LT-HD firmware. We will email back links and instructions.”
It has been previously suggested that the future of 3rd party interfaces with HDX systems looked pretty bleak, Avid themselves spoke out at the release of PT0 and HDX that these configurations days were numbered.
So this is certainly encouraging for Lynx Aurora owners and perhaps owners of other interfaces or converters that have previously worked with HD systems.
