Matthias over at Avid in Germany has kindly sent this article over for those in the community who may still have issues with Structure and Favourites.
This might look like a Structure bug, but it is actually caused by changes in the Pro Tools installation that might result in an orphaned link. However, the favorites are not lost, it’s just a matter of fixing an orphaned link in the registry/plist, so I figured I write up a quick tutorial how to do this manually.
If you mark a favorite in the structure browser, a link to this folder gets added to the “Favorites” folder on your computer. The dropdown menu on the patch shows all links that are contained in this folder. If the dropdown menu does not work, there are no favorites, or the registration got corrupted.
Let me show you how to fix the latter:
Locate you favorite folder on your computer (A)
Win7 32 C:\ProgramData\Digidesign\AIR\Structure\Favorites
OSX 10.7 Users/Shared/Library/Application Support/Digidesign/AIR/Structure/Favorites
Open the registry on windows, or the plist file on mac and locate the “favorites” key (B)
Win7 32 HKLM/Software/Digidesign/Structure > Edit “favorites” key
OSX 10.7 /Library/Preferences/com.digidesign.Structure.plist > Edit “favorites” key*
Copy the correct location of the favorites folder into the key (Structure must not be instantiated when editing reg/plist keys)
Done. Now all links contained in the favorites folder should show up in the patch menu again (C)
*Please note that you need a tool to edit plists, e.g. http://pref-setter.softonic.de/mac
The locations above might be different, depending on your operating system and Pro Tools version.
