FabFilter are celebrating their 20 year anniversary with 30% off all plugins and bundles until 1st May!
FabFilter released their first plugin in 2004 – FabFilter One – before the release of the first iPhone. Before YouTube existed. Before Facebook was even Facebook. Lots of plugins have followed, some of them even considered industry standard. Here’s just a small selection of our favourites…
Pro-Q3 Equalizer
A firm favourite amongst the Experts team, the Engineering Emmy Award-winning Pro-Q3 has redefined what we can expect from a premium EQ plugin and while it doesn’t present itself as a dynamic EQ, if you need a band of dynamic EQ you can enable that feature in this plugin.
Of course, being a FabFilter plugin, it doesn’t end there. Taking the ubiquitous spectrum analyser display behind the EQ curve concept one stage further is Spectrum Grab, where you can build a cumulative Spectrum trace and grab the peak you’re interested in to create an EQ node. Hold Alt and it can be dynamic. Add to that features such as EQ Match and auto gain and you have a standard-setting EQ. Experts writer Luke Goddard, recently rated it as one of 7 Plugins He Couldn’t Live Without In 2024, he said:
The clear visual feedback of FabFilter Pro-Q3 equaliser’s dynamic bands is among the clearest I’ve used. This makes it easy to fill in the gaps or take momentary swipes at the odd pedal note that can make it sound like the The End Is Nigh…
Pro-R2 Reverb
The release of Pro-R2 last year brought a raft of new goodies to FabFilter’s established space maker. Retaining Fab touches such as folding ER and decay into one simple Distance control, Pro-R2 addressed some of the features and sounds that were previously missing and set out to expand its user-base. Headline features such as Dolby Atmos support up to 9.1.6, and impulse response import were joined by sweeteners such as Auto Gate and Freeze for greater creative potential. Addressing its predecessor’s singular flavour, Vintage and Plate fleshed out FabFilter’s presence on your DAW’s return. See what we thought of it in our First Look Review.
Pro-C2 Compressor
Pro-C 2 offers eight different, program-dependent compression styles with beautiful sound and character. But there's more! Apart from the classic compressor controls, you also get smooth lookahead, up to 4x oversampling, intelligent auto-gain and auto-release, a variable knee, hold, range, external side-chain triggering, variable stereo linking and mid/side processing, all packed in FabFilter’s typical beautiful user interface.
