We Check Out Five Pro Presets In Cinematic Rooms Professional

Following LiquidSonics’ free update, Cinematic Rooms Professional has gained over one hundred new presets dialled in by some of the biggest names in the business. Hear our favourite pro presets for yourself as we take in their flawless atmospheres…

In Summary

Coinciding with the third anniversary of Cinematic Rooms Professional, the latest update brings 150 new presets as dialled in by the likes of Alvin Wee, Mike Exeter, Paul Godfrey, Simon Franglen, Dave Eringa, Phil McGowen, Dom Morley, Scott M Smith, and Marcelo Cyro. Here we call up our favourites in LiquidSonics’ uber-spacemaker.

Going Deeper

When it comes to storytelling, those mixing to picture demand realism more often than not. Music mixers, however, can gravitate towards more stylised reverbs with roots in electromechanical and algorithmic devices. That said, the kind of natural reverb used for picture can also be useful for setting the scene in music mixes. Generating perspectives from scratch can also be a lifesaver where compromised acoustics force a closer placement with the mics.

Whatever the job, since its release in 2020, LiquidSonics’ Cinematic Rooms Professional has cemented itself as a formidable choice for those looking to treat sources to the sound of realistic sounding spaces. For music mixers, its atmospheres can serve up room replacements as well as a range of aesthetic flourishes.

Cinematic Rooms Professional - New Pro Presets

Coinciding with the third anniversary of its release, LiquidSonics’ 1.2.6 update to Cinematic Rooms Professional delivers 150 new presets from the likes of Alvin Wee, Mike Exeter, Paul Godfrey, Simon Franglen, Dave Eringa, Phil McGowen, Dom Morley, Scott M Smith, and Marcelo Cyro. This brings the total number of available factory presets to 480.

In the video we pick five favourites for our mix, featuring each pro’s unique take on a range of rooms and spaces. Using a generous amount of reverb, we keep five instances of Cinematic Rooms Professional on hand to supply our favourite and alternative sounds for longer or shorter atmospheres.

  1. Snare: Dave Eringa Dense Snare

  2. Snare Alternative: Simon Franglen Drum Hall

  3. Guitars: Dom Morley Guitar Bloom

  4. Lead Vocal: Mike Exeter Stone Room

  5. Lead Vocal Alternative: Marcelo Cyro Weird Room

Who Needs Presets?

While no-one’s pretending that presets provide a one-click fix, one of their biggest advantages can be to provide a solid basis for dialling in their own. Seeing how others work is a bonus in itself, and when faced with some more complex tools (I don’t include Cinematic Rooms here) a few pointers are invaluable. Synths, reverbs, and more complex processors especially can be exploited to the full this way.

When it comes to Cinematic Rooms Professional, the use of a high quality audio plugin ambience can really add some believable space to drums, guitars, vocals, or whatever else needs framing in an imagined soundscape. Other more stylised reverb sounds can transport vocals into cavernous cathedrals, provide guitar atmospheres, or drop acoustic instruments into the intimacy of a small club with a single click.

Cinematic Rooms Professional’s new presets won’t make you sound unique, but for those new to LiquidSonics’ creation, many will benefit from a guided tour of what Cinematic Rooms Professional can do from some of the best in the business.
