Waves Stream Announced

Waves’ new Stream ecosystem marks the audio plugin giant’s arrival to the collaborative working arena. Following a period in early access beta, now anyone can plug into mixes from anywhere in the world. We have the details…

Waves Stream is the latest plugin and web service designed to make high-quality audio sharing part of a collaborative creative process. It is comprised of the Waves Stream plugins with Send and Receive variants available for DAW use at both ends, as well as a cross-platform web server that allows listeners to hear mixes on anything, including mobile and/or desktop devices. This lets engineers share mixes for instant feedback, or receive audio for collaboration. Waves Stream sets out to provide industry-leading quality, ultra-low latency, secure link sharing, and unique features such as integrated talkback controls.

Clicking the big blue power button in the plugin generates a link that can be shared with collaborators. The send plugin status changes to Live to indicate when the stream is being received at the other end. The QR code generated in the GUI can also be used for engineers to use the web app out in the car, for example.

Recipients simply paste the link into their Receive plugin, whose status will also show as Live once the connection is made. There is also information of the sending session’s sample rate and timeline position. Waves Stream also takes advantage of your DAW’s plugin sidechain abilities to let you pipe a talkback signal into the plugin from a DAW channel. The platform claims 100% privacy and security thanks to single-use links. These last 5 minutes and can be password protected.
