Universal Audio LUNA - A Guide To Processing Mixing And Mastering Your Music

It’s all very well recording a great track but at some point, it has to get out of the multi-track session on your computer and down to a stereo format to play out in the real world - It needs mixing. In this video, Technical Editor James Ivey concludes his LUNA launch series by looking at Universal Audio’s new LUNA Recording System for mixing.

Mixing In LUNA

Two of the headline features of LUNA are its built-in Tape Saturation options and the ability to apply Neve summing to your mixes as well as add a host of UAD2 plug-ins to tweak and massage your mix to perfection.

Neve Summing: Create with precisely emulated analog summing from the famed Neve 80 series consoles. This optional LUNA Extension will transform a clean, sterile mix to sound as if it was mixed on a classic Neve console.

The Oxide Tape Recorder: This included LUNA Extension provides UA's revolutionary magnetic tape emulation technology in a simple easy to use package with all of the essential features. By harnessing the musical, mixable sound of tape, Oxide gives you clarity, punch, and warmth so every track can sound like a record.

Studer Analog Tape: Get the punch and texture of magnetic tape on any audio or instrument track with the optional Studer A800 Tape Recorder Extension. Simply adjust per‑track Saturation controls to add harmonics, and tweak further with master controls like Tape Formula, Tape Speed (IPS), and more.
