Universal Audio Apollo Twin And UAD Custom 3 Bundle Winner

Last month we ran a competition in partnership with our friends over at Universal Audio to win an Apollo Twin and a UAD Custom 3 Bundle. We are excited to announce the lucky winner and pleased to introduce you to Jan Zwiebel.

Over To You Jan…

I’m Jan, or @janplaysdrums on social media, and I’m a freelance drummer, percussionist and playback engineer. Before COVID, I had been working for a range of artists internationally as a musician, stagehand, live promoter and manager. Due to the recent changes to our industry, I have decided to start studying again and I’m now a second-year student in BA Music Production. My goals are to become a mixing engineer and songwriter. I’m currently working on my own music and want to get into Sync; writing for game and TV mainly. The music that I’m making is electronic and strange, recorded mainly using MIDI instruments but with a lot of groove and feel to it.

Here are a few artists or projects that inspire me: Gorillaz, UNKLE, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Fickle Friends, Becky Hill, London Grammar.

How This Prize Will Help Me Do What I Do

The Apollo Twin will be incredibly useful for my current projects, be it setting up a playback rig with the Apollo for live vocal processing or just recording any instrument at home with great preamps. The plugins that come with it will enable me to record a vocalist whilst they can hear the great sound of legendary outboard gear on their monitors.

Having the Apollo in addition to my other MIDI and audio interfaces allows me to go super versatile with routing signals.

I can also prepare all the routing and plugin pre-sets at home before going into a session where time is tight and focus more on the artist that I’m working with.
