Synchro Arts RePitch - First Look

Oh, vocal tuning software, how do I love thee... let me count the ways. Autotune, Melodyne, Revoice Pro, Waves Tune, Metatune, Crispytuner, reTune, Nectar, Elastique Pitch, Flex Time, Elastic Audio. I love thee to the level of every day's most quiet need, by sun and candlelight. Well, maybe not sun and candlelight, but you get the idea. We're all pretty much members of one tribe or another. So, why look at a new potential love?

What if you could have each of the best qualities wrapped up in one brand new, modern, easy-to-use plug-in? RePitch is a new Synchro Arts plug-in that allows users to automatically and manually modify the pitch, time and level of single-pitch vocals and instruments. It also can uniquely feed prepared tracks (e.g. a tuned Guide track) directly to VocAlign Ultra. Because of the unique linkage, time and pitch modifications in RePitch are automatically transferred through VocAlign Ultra to its Dub track(s).

With RePitch, we get the best of the Revoice Pro tuning and timing DSP wrapped up in a new, easily accessible interface that connects with other tracks for real-time time pitch alignment. The two galaxies of pitch correction and alignment are linked in a new modernized workflow.

An initial user-definable macro setting will tune your notes automatically. Manual adjustments are easily accomplished with a selection of simple and intuitive tools and contextual menu functions. Visual feedback is beautifully set up and includes colour-coded original and modified pitch traces and pitch transitions. Intra note modulation is easily scaled. Pitch centres can be anchored to either end of notes.

The unique note transition smoothing function from Revoice Pro is also here, as is warp point editing. Oh yeah, and one more thing... A draw tool! One of the most common scenarios I struggle with when tuning vocals in other software is bad detection and split points that result in wild pitch drift curves that are impossible to wrestle under control. RePitch has a split tool and a draw tool to draw in the pitch trace you need manually if that's your thing. This might be the biggest RePitch feature I didn't know I needed until now!

There is a lot to love in RePitch. It combines the best of all worlds, has an easy learning curve, and includes some unique functions not found elsewhere. While I love my Juliet, it's clear that there is still room in this tired and jaded old heart for something new.

Take a look at this video to get an idea of the fundamental pitch correction workflow. More with Vocalign to come.
