Source Elements Source-RTL Remote Voice To Picture Recording Software Launched

Source Elements Source-RTL remote voice to picture recording software has been announced. One positive aspect of the Covid-19 Pandemic is that it has spawned new remote workflows and ingenuity. Post Production and Remote Workflow specialist Alan Sallabank takes a look at the brand new offering from the masters of remote working, Source Elements - Source RTL.

Let your Talent Do The Talking

A few months ago during the height of the pandemic, a childhood friend of mine who is now a Voice Artist, complained to me:

“I’m so tired of being the sound engineer, an IT expert AND a voice artist. I wish I could just sit down at the mic and perform.”

I could easily see her point. I find it hard enough being “the other side of the glass”, so I can absolutely appreciate what she and her clients are going through. So, it’s with great timing, that Source Elements have released a brand new addition to their incredible Source Connect software - Source RTL.

RTL-Creator

This new software is free to the talent side, encrypted and secure, so no worries from production companies with issues about security.

The “Creator” software is available to engineers on subscription, so if you have a burst of work requiring this workflow, you’re not tied into a large monthly outlay, as with other remote workflow solutions.

In this video, Mike Aiton, of the Source Elements Solutions Team and London facility Mikerophonics, takes us through the process of creating a secure RTL file to send to your talent.

No Expensive Hardware Or Software Required

Source-RTL is specifically purposed to be CPU light and generates secure all-inclusive packages that can be easily emailed or e-transferred, using the web utility of your choice. We set up from our research, a typical budget-friendly “home recording” rig to give this a good test:

This consists of a MacBook Air M1, a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Interface, Beyer DT770 headphones and a Rode NT1a microphone.

Easy For The Talent

In this video, Alan Sallabank takes us through the process that the artist will face when receiving an RTL file:

Simple And Quick

As you can see, this is fast and simple for both engineer and talent, plus doesn’t burden the talent with too many technical responsibilities, allowing them to do what they do best - perform.

This is a brilliant development from Source Elements, which can only help the continued production of content that we’ve become so used to.

Available Now

Source-RTL is available now from the Source Elements website, on subscription.
