RME Announce M-32 Pro II Converters

RME has announced the upcoming launch of the M-32 Pro II Series A-D and D-A converters. These 32 channel A/D and D/A converters incorporate high-resolution converter components and fully balanced signal routing, offering exceptional performance with a dynamic range of 120 dB(A) and minimal latencies. Building upon the success of their predecessor, the M-32 Pro II Series offers improved analogue performance in the DA converter, achieving a THD+N rating of -111 dB. Furthermore, optimisation of the impulse response at high sampling rates enhances the digital-to-analog conversion process.

Four Models - AVB and Dante

The M-32 Pro II Series includes the following models:

  • M32-Pro AD Pro II: 32 Analog inputs with MADI and AVB

  • M32-Pro DA Pro II: 32 Analog outputs with MADI and AVB

  • M32-Pro AD Pro II-D: 32 Analog inputs with MADI and Dante

  • M32-Pro DA Pro II-D: 32 Analog outputs with MADI and Dante

One notable feature of the M-32 Pro II Series is the ability to switch individual channels to different studio levels while maintaining the full converter resolution. The series supports a +24 dBu level at 0 dBFS in line with SMPTE recommendations, allowing for the handling of louder analog signals compared to other available multichannel converters.

The M-32 Pro II Series provides various integration options. Dante connectivity, a highly requested feature, has been seamlessly incorporated by RME directly into the M-32 Pro II-D hardware. This integration allows users to connect up to 64 audio channels from a computer to the analog and digital inputs and outputs of the M-32 Pro II-D via the Dante Virtual Soundcard using standard network switches.

For AVB connectivity, the M-32 Pro II Series offers models capable of transmitting and receiving up to 128 channels at 48 kHz (96 channels at 96 kHz, and 64 channels at 192 kHz) with a predefined fixed latency. These devices share status and configurable options across the network using ATDECC (IEEE 1722.1), facilitating seamless integration into deterministic networks.

Advanced Features

The M-32 Pro II Series devices are equipped with a range of advanced features. A second network port has been added to enable redundant operation, while the Dante model includes a network switch mode for interconnecting multiple devices via the second port. In addition to coaxial word clock and MADI ports, users have the option to upgrade to an optical MADI port with an optional SFP module, which is particularly beneficial for redundancy or applications requiring high channel counts at high sample rates. Users can individually route channels from both MADI ports to and from AVB/Dante destinations.

The devices feature intuitive user interfaces, including a high-resolution 2-inch display and rotary encoder that provide comprehensive status feedback and direct access to settings. Users can easily configure clock settings, manage presets, perform single-channel routing, monitor redundant power supply, and access various other functions directly at the unit.

RME has a tradition of providing continuous updates to its FPGA-based devices, ensuring they remain up-to-date with the latest software enhancements. The M-32 Pro II Series continues this tradition, offering ongoing updates to enhance features such as AVB total stream and channel count, MILAN compatibility, preset handling, and more.

The M32-Pro II Series is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2023. For pricing details, customers are advised to contact authorized dealers.
