RedNet PCIeR Card Discontinued? Rumour Untrue

It came to our attention that there was a rumour circulating online that the future of the RedNet PCIeR was in doubt. We spoke to Focusrite and can confirm that there are no issues surrounding the future of this crucial piece of hardware.

What Was The Rumour?

The rumour was that the Focusrite RedNet 128ch Dante PCIe card was not only unavailable and on backorder everywhere, but that they may be permanently discontinued due to a licensing issue with Audinate.

This rumour was given further credence because, at the time of writing, the older Focusrite Rednet PCIe card is listed on Audinate’s site as Discontinued.

As these cards are becoming a key component in many Pro Tools systems used for mixing in Dolby Atmos, this rumour was of particular significance to that community, so we went to Focusrite to find out whether there were any issues around the present and future supply of these cards.

Is The Rumour True?

When asked for a comment Tim Carroll, CEO of Focusrite said:

“Nothing happening here, discussions about how to insure future deliveries of this solution with various issues but nothing that would impact delivery to customers for the next year or so”.

Of the status of the relationship between Focusrite and Audinate he said:

“We work really closely with Audinate. Licensing is fine, relationship is fantastic. All is well”

So while there are supply issues of semiconductors globally, the word from the top of Focusrite is that the RedNet PCIeR card faces no specific supply issues and the rumours of a licensing issue ending production are untrue.
