Pro Tools 2022.7 Released

Avid have released Pro Tools 2022.7. There are no new features but the following bug fixes have been implemented including issues relating to sluggish UI performance on macOS big Sur and Monterey:

Cloud

  • Pro Tools cloud projects that were not able to be opened as of Pro Tools 2022.4 will now open (Windows 10 + 11) (PT-288184)


Crashes & Errors

  • Pro Tools will no longer crash when importing clip groups (macOS Monterey) (PT-289727)

  • Fixed a crash that may occur upon session open (PT-289501; PT-289363)


Delay Compensation

  • Fixed a delay compensation issue when destructive punch recording from an external source through an aux track w/plug in and cascade recording (PT-289059)


Editing

  • Fixed an Assertion Error ("time_type_mismatch", ../../NewFileLibs/Time/Time_TypedBase.h Line 142) when moving markers in Grid Mode with the Clips/Markers option selected (PT-289730)

  • Quantize using Follow Bars|Beats Grid now accepts grid values smaller than 1/32 (PT-288837)


MIDI

  • Fixed an assertion error (Assert in Time_TypedBase.h Line 142) resulting in a crash while using Trim Tool on notes in Grid mode on Sample Based Instrument / MIDI Tracks (macOS Catalina + Big Sur) (PT-288914)


UI

There have been many improvements in regards to sluggish UI performance with macOS Big Sur and Monterey:

  • After dragging tracks, the Edit window no longer takes a long time to update (PT-289306)

  • Vertical scrolling is no longer sluggish (PT-273976)

  • Fixed an issue where moving multiple tracks (or a folder track) used to take a long time for the tracks to successfully lock to their new location in the edit window. Usually accompanied by a SWOD (PT-285331; PT-289306)

  • Track Resizing is no longer slow compared to Catalina when Inserts & Sends columns are showing in Edit window (PT-289313)

  • UI is no longer sluggish when resizing all tracks in sessions with many tracks (PT-280601)

  • GUI is no longer sluggish to update when changing selected playlist in playlist view on an a Mac Studio running Monterey (PT-289304)

  • GUI is no longer sluggish to update when changing to playlist view on a Mac Studio Running Monterey (PT-289303)

  • Fixed an issue where the GUI was slow to respond when opening folder tracks on a Mac Studio running Monterey (PT-289302) 

  • Nudging clips across many tracks at once is no longer slow (PT-288767)

  • Show/Hide Markers no longer takes 3x Longer to Activate on macOS Big Sur 11.6.2 When Compared to on Catalina (PT-284024)

Windows UI improvements:

  • Fixed an issue with Windows 10 using built-in internal cards where playback wouldn't start, resulting in the play button flashing (PT-285435)

System Requirements and Compatibility with Pro Tools 2022.7 Software (Pro Tools Artist, Studio & Ultimate/Flex)

There is a known Apple issue loading the HD Driver that is resolved in macOS Monterey

  • macOS Monterey (12.4), Big Sur (11.6), Catalina (10.15.7), macOS Mojave (10.14.6)

    • With the qualification of Monterey 12.3 we will no longer be testing macOS Mojave, however it is expected to work at this time.

Pro Tools Big Sur/Monterey Notes:

  • Our testing has shown that certain configurations may result in a higher incidence of playback errors. This is particularly prevalent with older MacBook Pros.

  • Always check to see if any installed third-party plugins or other programs are officially supported before updating to a new Operating System.
