Pro Tools 2022.12 - Bug Fixes

With the release of Pro Tools 2022.12 a variety of bugs have been resolved, Here’s the complete list:


AAF

  • AAF's will now import correctly when clips reference media that spans multiple files (PT-295240)

  • Pro Tools will now automatically look for media in /users/shared/AvidMediaComposer when opening a session or importing an AAF (PT-291342)


ARA

  • Fixed a problem that was causing AAE errors when interacting with Melodyne using ARA (PT-290970)

  • Fixed a rendering bug on a Melodyne enabled track that only occurred when the tempo was changed (PT-292559)

  • ARA data is no longer missing when reopening a session if there were multiple instances of. the same clip on a track (PT-295464)

  • ARA 'blobs' will no longer disappear from a tick-based ARA-edited clip when the clip was looped (PT-295200)

  • Files will no longer be missing on tick-based audio tracks in the session saved with Save Copy in different SR for tick-based ARA tracks (PT-292075)

  • Session notes are no longer displayed during session open when the session contains duplicated ARA clips (PT-292066)

  • Dragging and dropping stereo plug-ins onto inserts on mono tracks is now possible (PT-293980)

  • Melodyne commands are now available in the Custom Keyboard Shortcuts (PT-293659)

  • Removed a graphical defect in the Melodyne tab where it would render the tab black under certain conditions (PT-292759)

  • Corrected an issue where ARA visualization on clips was wrong when using Multi Layer Editing (PT-288072)

  • Melodyne visualization now appears on looped clips (PT-282105)


Accessibility

  • Addressed a Ventura specific issue where Voiceover could not be used to select multiple tracks (PT-295384)

  • Voiceover now speaks the value, name and role of Fade Shape selector in the Fade Window (PT-290777)


Audio to MIDI

  • "Extract MIDI to New Track" now works properly after deleting an object-selected clip from the track (PT-292768)


Automation

  • Latch mode automation no longer writes a diagonal line where playback stops when the fader is pulled to -inf dB (PT-284166)


Aux I/O

  • Pro Tools Audio Bridge can now be used to send 7.1.4 audio from the OS to Pro Tools via the 16 channel device (PT-295399)

  • Aux I/O inputs will now pass signal if the chiclets in the I/O Setup output tab are moved and put back (PT-293253)

  • Aux I/O devices will no longer have a "2" appended to the name after a brief device disconnection, which prevented reconnecting to previously-used devices (PT-293060)

  • Pro Tools Audio Bridge now outputs all channels when using the 6 channel device with VLC Media Player (PT-292985)

  • AFL/PFL Solo mode now continue working after reordering outputs in IO Setup (PT-250219)


Cloud Collaboration

  • Some projects unable to be opened with error "The project is still uploading" can now be opened. (PT-289731)

  • Projects on Windows now upload when saved (PT-293583)

  • Enabling ARA on a track is now transmitted to another user via Track Collaboration (PT-290670)

  • Fixed a bug where an ARA enabled clip lost its ARA edits when sent to another user via Track Collaboration (PT-290669)


Commit / Freeze

  • Fixed an error that occurred when committing up to an insert in the Mix window, which prevented the operation from completing (PT-293083)


Control Surfaces

  • Plug-in bypass state on EUCON Control Surfaces now reliably appear in sync with Pro Tools directly after opening a session. (PT-295855)


Core Audio / ASIO / Windows Audio Device

  • It is now possible to change the H/W buffer size on HD hardware when used as an ASIO device on Windows 11 (PT-284108)


Crashes and Errors

  • Fixed a crash on session open that would occur with several plug-ins (PT-288219)

  • Deleting a track during playback, that contains a plug-in with a sidechain input, will no longer crash on with an HDX playback engine (PT-293556)

  • Fixed a SWOD when hiding Pro Tools while a Fade or Bounce window is open (PT-291826, PT-293683)

  • Changing the Hardware Buffer Size and Sample Rate in Hardware Setup no longer SWODs (PT-286948/PT-286949)

  • Fixed a crash when entering comments in a Melodyne enabled track (PT-293322)


Editing

  • Edit selection range is once again retained if it is extended to another track by Shift-clicking, instead of snapping to the grid (PT-294222)

  • Multiple selected tick-based clips will once again retain selected when dragged or nudged multiple times in Slip Mode (PT-294562)

  • MIDI notes in consolidated tick-based MIDI clips can once again be selected and edited (PT-291913)

  • Grid values on Pro Tools 10 sessions are once again correctly restored when the session is opened. Previously some sessions opened with very large and invalid grid settings which prevented normal editing. (PT-291229)

  • A selected MIDI clip will once again remain selected when nudging with non-Bar|Beat values (PT-291354)

  • Clip Gain no longer gets stuck in a bypassed state (PT-291462)


Hybrid Engine

  • All channels of multi-mono plug-ins will remain bypassed on session open for DSP enabled tracks (PT-294038)


Import

  • MP3 files now import much quicker when running natively on Apple silicon (PT-286064)

  • M4a/AAC files now import much quicker when running natively on Apple silicon (PT-273021)


Installer

  • Mix and Edit windows can once again be switched using ‘Command’ + ‘=' on macOS Ventura (PT-294264)

  • Custom keyboard shortcut for the Color Palette will now both open and close the window (PT-291465)

  • Keyboard shortcuts containing the Ctrl key that is sent from external apps are correctly received by Pro Tools (Windows only) (PT-289341)

  • Keyboard shortcuts containing the Ctrl key will now work on systems with the OS display language set to Chinese (PRC) (Windows only) (PT-285640)

  • Edit selections can once again be extended to a marker using SHIFT and numeric keypad shortcuts (PT-291640)

  • ‘Command’ + ‘Up/Down’ in the Docked MIDI Editor once again changes the MIDI velocity (PT-293982)


Plugins

  • Playlists will not be corrupted under certain conditions in very large sessions (PT-292881)

  • Pasting text into a plug-in window will no longer paste the data twice (PT-263909)

  • Fixed an issue that could prevent playback after instantiating a plug-in (PT-284954)


Pro Tools | Carbon Systems

  • LEDs for multiple sections of Pro Tool | Carbon & Pro Tools | Carbon Pre now behave as expected (PT-292460/PT-290772/PT-291804)

  • The Pro Tools | Carbon/Carbon Expanded Core Audio AVB Playback Engine is now available in Pro Tools Artist (PT-292305)

  • The Headphone chicklets in Pro Tools | Carbon IO Setup no longer are displayed as question marks on other Playback Engines and preventing IO Setup closure (PT-291057)

  • Performance had been improved when running multiple plugins at a 1024 Hardware Buffer on some Mac Pro 6,1 and Mac Book Pros, where previously you could intermittently receive a "Pro Tools cannot communicate with the selected PB Engine device" dialogue (PT-280480)


Routing and I/O Setup

  • Defaulting I/O setup with a Default Format wider than stereo now only add the default format as the first output path instead of once per interface (PT-290677)

  • Defaulting the Input tab in I/O Setup will now create paths with the correct names for the MBOX Studio (PT-294513)
     

Synchronization

  • Pro Tools will now consistently follow the frame edge after changing the clock master from an HD Interface to Pro Tools Sync HD / Pro Tools | Sync X (PT-290779)

  • Fixed several issues via a Pro Tools | Sync X firmware update (See Sync-X-Firmware-Release-Notes for details)


UI

  • In the Window menu, focus states (tick mark) for floating windows are now correctly displayed (macOS Ventura only) (PT-293979)

  • Grid lines in the timeline are not redrawn correctly after changing session start time to different frame value (PT-289678)

  • Dragging the divider to open the Tracks list no longer causes UI glitches (PT-295309)

  • The Clip FX pane is now shown at the proper resolution on Mac Retina displays (PT-216609)

  • Pro Tools System Usage Window CPU meter calculations have been unified between HDX and host-bases systems.  Note that this may cause a cosmetic decrease in HDX CPU metering, though the actual CPU performance has not changed (PT-287890)

  • It is no longer possible for a machine to show more than 100% memory usage in the Pro Tools System Usage Window when running in Rosetta (PT-276792)

  • Ableton Link cluster can now be shown or hidden from the transport section of the view menu (PT-292884)

  • The menu for Clip-Rating is now grayed out when no clip is selected (PT-251240)

  • Scrolling up with a mouse wheel now works when the docked MIDI Editor or Melodyne window is maximized (PT-280856)


Miscellaneous

  • Digitest now installs the correct firmware on Rev G Pro Tools | HD MADI (PT-294804)

  • Plug-in bypass state is now inherited when duplicating DSP tracks (PT-277620)

  • Text once again wraps in the Rename Clip window (PT-291509/PT-249254)

  • The correct sample rates are now available after changing Windows Audio Device input device in the Playback Engine (PT-291049/PT-285645)

  • Fixed a case where audio would not be heard after changing the sample rate from H/W Setup before creating a session (PT-278007)

  • Fixed an issue where Audio Suite plug-ins would be grayed out in the menus after performing certain actions in Pro Tools (PT-290588)
