Neyrinck Audio Announce V90 - A Faithful Reproduction Of The SPX90 Ensemble Effect

Neyrinck Audio has announced the V-90 Symphonic plug-in, an emulation of the classic symphonic audio effect found in the SPX 90 hardware. This new plug-in is designed to deliver a rich, lush stereo effect to both mono and stereo sources. We have the details.

Compatibility

The V-90 Symphonic plug-in offers compatibility with various plug-in formats, including AU, VST, VST3, AAX Native, and AAX DSP. It's now available for purchase on the Neyrinck online store, making this classic accessible to a wide range of audio professionals and enthusiasts.

Background

Neyrinck say that the V-90 Symphonic is dedicated to reproducing the iconic symphonic sound that has been a staple in studios and effect setups since the SPX 90's debut in 1985. Unlike other chorus effects, it avoids undesirable wobbling or detuned artifacts, instead providing a captivating sweeping texture. The plug-in is notable for its zero added latency, making it ideal for real-time tracking and monitoring.

AAX DSP

Another significant feature of the V-90 Symphonic is its support for AAX DSP, ensuring seamless integration with Pro Tools Hybrid tracks and Avid Live Sound systems. This functionality elevates the audio production process, offering an enhanced experience to users.

Paul Neyrinck, the founder of Neyrinck, shared some insights into the development process. He explained the challenges of profiling and modeling the symphonic effect, which required the creation of custom signal analysis software to understand its complex LFO modulation scheme. He also noted that later hardware versions like the SPX 900/990 did not sweep as wide as the original SPX 90. The V-90 Symphonic, however, faithfully reproduces the original SPX 90 symphonic effect at all DAW sample rates.
