New iMac Pro With Apple Silicon M1 Pro And Max - What We Know
When Apple dropped the iMac Pro computer one could have been forgiven for thinking that was an experiment that had ended and we wouldn’t be seeing any more iMac Pro machines.
However, it seems Apple has another pro Mac coming and that’s an iMac Pro powered with the new M1 Pro and M1 Max Silicon SoC.
Several sites including Apple Insider and Mac Rumors are reporting information from leaker @Dylandkt on Twitter.
The features cited as part of the new Apple Mac Pro are;
M1 Pro and Max
Promotion and Mini Led
The base model expected to ship with 16gb Unified memory and 512gb Storage
Dark bezels
HDMI, SD Card, USB C
Similar design to iMac 24 and Pro Display XDR
Ethernet on brick standard
Starting price at or over $2000
Face ID was tested (Not confirmed)
Of course 6 months is a long time in the world of technology so these specifications could change over that period.
Given the performance we are already seeing from the new MacBook M1 Pro and M1 Max powered computers it’s likely this new iMac Pro is going to be a powerhouse. One area of concern for many people when considering the iMac format of computer for use in a recording studio is fan noise. In our tests with the new MacBooks, fan noise is non-existent even under extreme load. As the iMac has far more space to move air around, the fan noise should be even quieter… watch this space.
Is the iMac Pro a format you would consider for your next studio computer?
