Audio plugin developers haven’t wasted any time, with many of them already having Universal Binaries in AAX format. This is in preparation for the upcoming release of a native version of Pro Tools for Apple Silicon.

What Does This Mean?

We reported last week that developers have a build of Pro Tools for Apple Silicon. Pro Tools Plugin Developers Testing Apple Silicon Builds Now

Now beta testers have a copy and are able to both test the Pro Tools application and also plugins for compatiblity. One tester told us “Everything is just snappier and smoother. Load times are quicker too as well as launching Pro Tools.”

Although Avid hasn’t confirmed a release date for the new native version of Pro Tools for Apple Silicon, it does appear that things are moving fast… perhaps an early Christmas gift?
