Intuitive Transient Control With Oeksound's Spiff

In this video for Production Expert, Ross Rothero-Bourge looks at the oeksound Spiff plug-in, examining various situations in which Spiff may either enhance or reduce a transient. Ross shows how to use the delta mode to assess where the transient is sticking out. Also, Ross explains how to smooth out or enhance the top end of a bass or guitar.

Spiff is not only a transient designer but a frequency conscious transient designer. With Spiff, you can home in on any particular frequency that needs transient treatment and leave the rest of the signal unaffected.

Spiff works best on percussive sounds as a transient processing tool, but as Ross demonstrates in his video, this doen'tdoesn't mean just drums. Think pianos, guitars, and vocals where there might spike in high end or not pluck in the mids. What's more, Ross demonstrates by examining the Duck Drums From Mix preset, you can remove a particular transient from a track and replace it with your own.

Spiff has everything you need in a multi-band transient designer, with an intuitive and easy to use interface, or for those who wish to delve deeper and control those transients with microscopic precision.

Spiff is a very welcome addition to any processing workflow, firmly covering the multi-band requirements. And, at only £139, it is well worth the investment.
