In this week's Free Plug-in, we are featuring Bring Your Own Distortion (BYOD) from ChowDSP. A flexible, freely patchable plugin with 43 different modules and a focus on guitar tones.
What Is BYOD?
Build-Your-Own-Distortion (BYOD) is an audio plugin that allows the user to create custom guitar effects, with a focus on guitar distortion. The plugin contains emulations of guitar distortion and tone-shaping circuits from various manufacturers, along with a handful of other useful effects.
For example, you might want to use the compressor on an audio channel containing bass in order to make it sound fatter and cut through the mix. Another example would be when mixing drums, where you will want to apply compression on the whole drum group in order to 'melt' it together and add extra punch.
Don’t worry, there aren’t any feet in the plugin UI!
