This week’s free plugin is Band Saturator from Bansaw Crown. It’s a saturator with some interesting filtering controls which sets it apart from the crowd.

What Is Band Saturator?

Band Saturator is a saturation plugin which offers some useful filtering options which can control exactly which frequencies get saturated, and as saturation generates additional harmonic content it can be used to control which frequencies get added. The frequency knob controls the corner frequency of a high pass filter, you can use this to exclude bass content from the saturation. The bandwidth knob controls how far the low pass filter is from the high pass - ie it control the width of the passband feeding the saturation. This is a useful alternative to a dedicated frequency control for this low pass filter as it will move with changed to the frequency knob. the addition of a resonance control for the low pass filter adds yet more options.

Watch the video below for more information on the plugin. An interesting difference between the free and paid versions is that as well as more saturation flavours only the paid for version has oversampling. This will have an audible effect on the results of a saturation plugin.
