EVE Audio SC2070 Studio Monitor Released

EVE Audio, the Berlin-based manufacturer of professional studio monitor speakers including the TEC Award-winning SC4070, has announced the release of the SC2070 - a 2-way monitor with an extra-large Air Motion Transformer, designed for mid-size professional and home recording studios.

According to the press release, SC2070 is a high-resolution near-/midfield Monitor that combines the eminent technologies of SC3070 and TEC Award-winning SC4070 in a compact 2-way monitor.

The most prominent feature of SC2070 is a newly developed Air Motion Transformer RS7 which is the largest AMT used in a 2-way monitor. The diaphragm area is 1.5 times larger in comparison to the tweeter used in the SC207 (check out Eli Krantzberg’s thoughts about the SC207 in our article here) and has been developed specifically to achieve a crossover frequency at 1800Hz - astonishingly low for a 2-way monitor.

High and upper midrange frequencies are reproduced with unparalleled precision and resolution, revealing smallest nuances, whilst the midrange imaging is assured at levels like those normally found in 3-way systems.

The all-new Air Motion Transformer is coupled to a 6.5” SilverCone woofer driven by a sophisticated low distortion copper cap magnet system with a 1.5” voice coil. An optimised, low-resonance enclosure with a reinforced front baffle ensures extreme stability of the SC2070's mechanical construction and bevelled cabinet edges reduce sound diffraction.

Easy levelling of system volume as well as the adjustment of filters for room variables (low shelf, mid EQ and high shelf filters) is possible via EVE Audio’s trademark SMART-knob conveniently located at the front of the studio monitor. What’s more, all settings are displayed on a LED ring (with adjustable brightness), providing instant and precise information of selected values.

A high-resolution DSP electronics is supported by a top-quality A/D converter from Burr-Brown. The DSP ensures latency-free filtering and simultaneously protects the drivers over the entire frequency range against overheating. When switched on, the volume of the monitor increases slowly to leave enough time to reduce the source volume if the input signal is too loud.

Two high-quality Class D amplifiers with a total short-term output power of 250 W are directly connected to the DSP section with no additional conversion to ensure extreme reliability and a max output level of 116dB (SPL @ 1m, half space, pair).

Of the new monitors, EVE Audio’s CEO & Head of R&D Roland Stenz says, "With our latest innovation, the SC2070, we second our commitment to the technology of an air motion transformer and its capability and knowledge to develop this kind of technology further. We have now developed a whole range of different air movement transducers to meet the requirements of the various studio monitors in our range and to be as close as possible to the perfect solution. With the larger air motion transformer RS7 the SC2070 houses, we developed the largest AMT used in a 2-way studio monitor. The crossover frequency is set to low 1800Hz which is an important area of human hearing.

The SC2070 completes our flagship series containing so far SC3070 and SC4070 with a compact studio monitor with smaller foot print. This means that the flagship series can now also find its way into smaller and midsize studios.“
