Check Out The Power Of VocAlign Ultra And RePitch

Tuning vocals is a reality of modern audio engineering life. There are various tools and techniques available, most of which work pretty decently. Aligning vocals, however, is a different story. There are not nearly as many options available. Both tuning vocals AND aligning the time and pitch of multiple vocal tracks is yet another story. This last scenario, however, is a common need. We have a lead vocal and some vocal doubles. We tune the lead, but then the doubles don't match. This can quickly become a sticky situation, requiring a lot of manual edits, tweaks, trial and error, and time.

Synchroarts has solved this problem very elegantly with its synchro link integration between its Repitch and Vocalign Ultra plug-ins. Repitch is a modern vocal editing environment with all the ease of use and functionality we expect in a modern vocal tuning environment. Vocalign Ultra is a companion tool, specifically designed for the task of aligning vocal doubles and harmony tracks.

Syncro link is the magic ingredient that brings the two together. If they were all tracked at the same time, once the lead vocal is edited, the vocal doubles and harmonies will likely no longer follow the timing or tuning of the corrected lead vocal. Thanks to Syncro Link, the corrected lead vocal inside Repitch is magically transferred to Vocalign Ultra, to be used as a tuning and timing reference that is easily applied to one or more doubles or harmonies.

So, with the click of a few mouse buttons, the timing and tuning are easily transferred to vocal doubles. Which is a much better alternative to manually lining up the time and pitch of vocal doubles phrase by phrase.

Often with vocal doubles, only portions of the phrases are doubled - so there is a contrast in texture that allows the lead vocal to stand out. The doubles are used to reinforce specific phrases only. Vocalign Ultra has you covered with its Smart Align feature. With Smart Align enabled, the algorithm knows to leave the solo parts of the vocal out of the alignment process, and only look at the parts where there are true doubles taking place.

Often parts of the doubled vocal track may work fine, and require either no correction or correction to only the timing or the pitch; but not both. Vocalign Ultra has you covered here again, with its ability to establish protected areas. These allow you to omit specific phrases from either time or pitch alignment.

In this short video, you will see how easily a tuned vocal in Repitch is used to correct a vocal double track; through the magic of Syncro Link technology.
