In this video for Production Expert, Brent March takes a look at Arturia Mellotron V, his favourite instrument from V Collection 7 (now version 8) - a faithfully modelled reproduction of the Mellotron circa 1963.

The Mellotron is a tape-based sampler, allowing you to play tape-based recordings of actual orchestral instruments. The original instrument was a marvel of engineering: a playable network of magnetic tapes that let you perform using otherworldly recordings of choirs, acoustic, and classical instruments. Notoriously challenging to maintain and almost impossible to transport, the Mellotron was used by The Beatles, King Crimson, The Moody Blues - some of the biggest, most influential acts of all time.

Mellotron V isn't just a copycat, it's a lovingly recreation of the original with some exclusive features that make it a must-have for the modern producer. All of the original tapes have been included, sampled at source, and replayed using authentic tape emulation.
