Especially at this time, when so many of us are working from home, wouldn’t it be nice to have a second license of your favourite plugins. Today Waves have announced that all Waves users with a current Waves Upgrade Plan (WUP) can now get 2nd licenses for any eligible plugin covered under the Waves Update Plan and use that license on a different computer, without having to move licenses between devices. We have all the details.

What Is The Waves Update Plan?

Every new purchase or upgrade of any Waves product includes one year of free Waves Update Plan coverage for that product. Once the plan expires, you can renew it for another year whenever you want. If you don’t wish to renew, the plugins you own will remain yours as before, but you will not be able to access any updates for that plugin, 2nd licenses, or the other benefits of the plan. The cost for one year of Waves Update Plan coverage depends on the number of products you own and their prices. Updating coverage per year ranges between $12 and $240 if you own one copy of each product. Here are the benefits of having a WUP…

2nd Licenses Now Available For Eligible Waves Plugins Covered By A Current Waves Update Plan

• Eligibility: You may receive a 2nd license for any software product (V9 and above) currently covered under the Waves Update Plan, except the excluded products listed below. Products covered under the Waves Update Plan and eligible for a 2nd license include:

  • New products purchased (automatically covered by the Waves Update Plan for one year).

  • Products for which the Waves Update Plan has been renewed.

  • Products with an active Waves Update Plan purchased from another Waves plugin owner (“Transfer of Ownership”) – subject to the limitations below.

• Excluded products: eMotion LV1, SuperRack, MultiRack, SoundGrid Rack for Venue, SoundGrid Studio, and Waves Subscriptions (including Waves Music Maker Access products).

• Registration: 2nd licenses are not registered automatically. You need to register them here.

• Expiration: The 2nd license expires when your Waves Update Plan coverage for the same product’s main license expires.

• Transfer of Ownership: You may not transfer ownership of the 2nd license separately to another person. Both licenses (main license and second license) must be deactivated before the main license can be transferred.

• Returns: If you return a product, both the main license and the 2nd license are returned automatically.

I have checked my Waves Account and I have a raft of plugins eligible for 2nd license. This will make life so much easier and mean that I can keep a duplicate set of Waves plugins on my laptop.
