Learn How To Comp The Perfect Track From Several Takes In Studio One Using Take To Layers

Audio and Instrument tracks in Studio One have a helpful layers feature that makes is easy for producers to comp and edit the perfect sounding track from several different takes. Comping is a common stage in today’s audio production workflows enabling producers to pick the strongest moments from within many takes. Besides comping, producers also like the option to compare different creative ideas such as changes in lyrics or performance styles.

Comping and comparing could of course be achieved using tracks, but this isn’t always an elegant approach. In Studio One you can make good use of a feature called Take To Layers which enables you to view and edit multiple takes that were recorded to the same track. Watch our two free video tutorials below to see Take To Layers in action in Studio One and to learn why it’s a crucial mode you should consider using more when tracking in Studio One.
