Antelope Audio Announce Opto-2A, Space Flanger and Vari-Speed Tremolo For Their Synergy Core Platform

The team at Antelope Audio are very pleased to announce three new effects processors for their new FPGA and ARM DSP platform called Synergy Core. The Opto-2A, Space Flanger and Vari-Speed Tremolo are all available now to run on the two new Antelope interfaces Discrete 4 Synergy Core and Discrete 8 Synergy Core with support for the recently announced Orion Studio Synergy Core coming very soon.

Opto-2A - $75 USD.

Antelope’s Opto-2A captures all the subtleties and nuances of that iconic Sixties-vintage electro-optical compressor that we all know and love. The original hardware’s exceptionally warm sound and gentle compression character have made it a well-loved unit for generations of artists and producers, possibly gracing more hit records than any other outboard unit in hardware history. The key to the hardware’s unique tone is the optical attenuator unit, which was a byproduct of development in optical sensors for the US military. The T4 attenuator has, what some might call an audio signature made up from two-stages of compression release, which greatly contribute to its smooth and musical sound. The Opto-2A plugin is simple to use with only Gain and Peak Reduction knobs needed to tweak the sound as you see fit. Flick a switch on the Opto-2A and the compressor becomes a limiter, just like the hardware does.

Space Flanger - $55 USD

Space Flanger is capable of producing phases, sweeps, and swooshes that sound other worldly. The gain adjusts the input volume from -12dB to +12dB. Wave chooses between triangle and sine wave modulation. Feedback adjusts the amount of output signal being fed back into the input, which in turn produces resonance and that amazing fed-back glow. The delay adjusts the offset between the source and the delayed signal in milliseconds. Rate adjusts the frequency of the modulating wave. Depth adjusts the amplitude of the modulating wave and Mix is a blend between the dry (unprocessed sound) and wet ( processed signal).

Vari-Speed Tremolo - $55 USD

Tremolo was the first ever effect to be built into vintage UK and US valve guitar amplifiers. Tremolo is actually a very simple effect. In its rawest form it is a change in volume but, it becomes the sound of the US surf guitar. Antelope’s new Vari-Speed Tremolo is a fresh and versatile take on vintage tremolos with a five-position Wave selector and Vari-Speed controls. Use the Wave selector to choose between sine, triangle, square, sawtooth, and inverted sawtooth modulating waves. The rate control adjusts the modulation speed. The innovative Vari-Speed Rate adjusts how quickly the frequency of the modulating wave varies. This is the control to play with if you like your effects just a little bit more crazy and away from the norm. The depth control adjusts the amount of amplitude or volume modulation and finally the mix allows blend between the dry and wet signal.

Where To Buy

Antelope Audio Synergy Core interface owners can buy these new effects from the main Discrete 4 or Discrete 8 Synergy Core pages of the Antelope Audio website along with an ever growing range of very competitively priced EQ, dynamics and time based effects that make use of the FPGA and ARM DSP chips that Antelope have built into their new range of interfaces.
