Dropbox Offer New Transfer Feature - Something Professional Creatives Should Start Using Now

Dropbox is ubiquitous when it comes to file transfers, even if they are not the biggest they are certainly one of the best-known file transfer services.

Now in beta, Dropbox Transfer offers ‘WeTransfer’ like services for Dropbox users and for those professionals who share files with clients, this is something well worth considering instead of the usual way of sharing Dropbox content.

Dropbox Transfer offers;

  • Track your transfers with delivery and download notifications.

  • Send recipients up to 100 GB per transfer, whether they have a Dropbox account or not.

  • Send a file, but keep your original. You deliver a copy of your files without inviting recipients to your file system.

  • Secure it with a password

  • Add an expiry date

As already pointed out, this is similar to WeTransfer, in fact the user experience is almost identical - how inspired! Good news for Dropbox users sharing with other Dropbox users with a free account is that this will bypass the issue that when content is shared with users, it eats into the storage allowance, and this new feature would also appear to be a nice way around this, as it enables Dropbox users to be able to share files with people who don’t have a Dropbox account.

It looks as if Dropbox is taking the needs of those running studios and other creative business more seriously with these new features.

To use the beta of Dropbox Transfer make sure you have the latest version of Dropbox and you will find it in the list of options when right-clicking on any file in Dropbox. You can also find it as an option in the web version of the Dropbox App.
