Revoice Pro - How To Use To Smooth Pitch Transitions Between Notes Using Powerful Tools

Transposing monophonic audio is nothing particularly special these days. Most DAWs can do it, and all pitch correction software does it. But Revoice Pro 4.1 has many unique features not found in other pitch and time manipulation software. The Smooth Join Tool and its related functions is a prime example.

Using the Smooth Join Tool in Revoice Pro V4.1, pitch transitions between notes can be smoothed out, creating seamless and transparent sounding phrasing.

The Smooth Join Tool performs, what I like to think of as, the polar opposite of the quantized stepped tuning effect heard in much modern pop music. In the well known "T-Pain effect," all pitch transitions are removed and reduced to a straight line, resulting in jagged abrupt transition between notes. The Smooth Join Tool smooths rather than eliminates the natural pitch contours in either instruments or the human voice as they move from note to note. The result is a fluid and even phrasing, rather than the rough and hard transitions popularised in modern vocal production.

In this free video tutorial, brought to you with the support of Synchro Arts, I'll take a short guitar lick and transpose it up to create a harmony part. The transposed pitch transitions are then smoothed out with the Smooth Join Tool to even out the pitch contours as they occur in the new range. Finally, the newly created harmony part is played back along with the original, creating a vibrant, intricate guitar part, not present in the original recording.
